What you need:
- Samsung Galaxy S2 on Gingerbread 2.3.5 XWKI8 (to check this: Click on Settings > About Phone >
- Android Version :2.3.5
- Build Number: Gingerbread.XWKI8
- 01 – Odin3 V1.0 Tool
- 02 – GT-I9100_NEE_I9100XWKI8_I9100OXXKI2_I9100XXKI4
(The Firmware) - USB Data Cable
- Make sure your Phone is fully charged!
- Backup Apps:
- SMS – Use “SMS Backup &
Restore app”, - Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
- Call Log - Call Log and Restore
- Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
- APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications
> Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access
Point Names”
1. Charge your phone up.
2. Backup all your files either by using the above apps or by using your favored apps. There is a small risk that you could lose the data on your phone or even brick it. Don’t forget to include backups of the apps that hide information too.
3. If you haven’t done so, download the 2 files above and extract the Odin3 V1.0 Tool (leave 02 –
GT-I9100_NEE_I9100XWKI8_I9100OXXKI2_I9100XXKI4.tar as it is).

5. Turn your phone off.
6. Start the phone in the ‘Download mode’-
Press and hold Volume Down button + Home button + Power button (It helps to hold down the volume down button, then the home button then the poer off button together).

8. Now connect the USB cable to the phone from the PC running Odin. After a short while Odin will show the phone is connected and the first yellow box will show ID:COM:
9. Click on the ‘PDA’ Button and find the firmware file
’02 – GT – I9100_NEE_I9100XWKI8_I9100OXXKI2_I9100XXKI4.tar’,
this will load the file into Odin. Make sure ‘Re-Partition’ is unchecked.

11. Download the ‘Root Check’ App, this will tell you if your phone is rooted.
And you’re done!
